I’ve been at this tech marketing thing for a long time.
After more than 30 years in the marketing world, I’ve seen a lot. I started before we had email. I watched the rise of email and the fax machine. I built websites before broadband was a thing. I watched social media reshape communication, and I’ve lived through more than a few hype cycles around marketing tech.
Now we’re at another inflection point. Maybe the biggest one yet.
AI isn’t just another tool. It’s rewiring how marketers think, build, execute, and measure. And if you’ve been around long enough, you know that when something this big comes along, you have to rewire your thinking or risk falling behind.
Every time we’ve had one of these major shifts, I’ve had to unlearn things that used to work and learn a new way of doing things. What helped me each time? Watching other smart people adapt. Learning from friends who were experimenting. Seeing real-world examples of what worked and what didn’t.
So that’s what I’m doing here. Tech Marketing Rewired is a way for me to share what I’m learning as I navigate this next shift. I’ve launched a podcast where I talk to people I know and respect. Some are running marketing at major tech brands. Some are building the tools that will shape what marketing looks like in five years. All of them are figuring it out in real time. Just like the rest of us.
Here on this Substack, I’ll be sharing what I take away from those conversations. Not just the highlights but the patterns I’m seeing across the board. I’ll also drop in the occasional rant or reflection on digital, go-to-market strategy, content, creative, and whatever else is on my mind. This is meant to be useful, honest, and rooted in the real world of doing the work.
